RES 3 – in this drawing entitled "the point of honor decided, or the leaden argument of a love affair" Cruickshank depicts a pistol duel between two gentlemen fighting over the affections of the woman. In the drawing both men have fired but one has missed its target while the other has scored a hit, and the wounded gentleman is seen falling backwards. Of interest is that the winner of the duel is seen looking away from the man he has shot as if he had fired without even looking. This can be interpreted as a certain amount of indifference or contempt for his victim.
