RES 13 – "Town and Gown or the Battle of the Togate and the Town Raff in the high Street Oxford". In this action scene students from the University wearing their distinctive scholars hats are fighting with top hat and gentlemen from the town. The reason for the fight is not explained but it seems quite lively and depicts a general brawl between dozens of men fighting mostly with fists, but also with clubs and improvised weapons such as chairs and whips.
