RES 11 – "Shew Sunday – sketches of character in the broad walk, Christ Church Meadows, Oxford". In this drawing Cruickshank turns his satiric eye towards the fashionable crowd that would typically parade down the main street of each town on a Sunday afternoon. The purpose of these walks was to see and be seen. Women hoped to make an impression not just on eligible bachelors but also on other women as they paraded in their best dresses.
