George Cruikshank
George Cruikshank (Born London, 27 September 1792, Died 1 February 1878) was a pictorial satirist, cartoonist and illustrator and the brother of Robert Cruikshank, also a noted illustrator.
Both his father Isaac Cruikshank and his brother Robert Cruikshank were cartoonists. At first George Cruikshank worked for the stage, creating theatre advertisments and set designs, but he was approached by a publisher to begin making sketches for children's books and illustrations for song sheets, which led him to work as an illustrator of books and magazines. The George Cruikshank Omnibus features a large collection of the his best illustrations and caricactures.
